Hello friends! We’ve had such a lovely and unexpectedly cool week during the hottest part of summer and I’m so grateful to be able to go for some long walks to enjoy it! The fall migrants have started even if they don’t seem to want to come get their picture taken yet. The heat isn’t done with us but it’s nice to see a glimpse of what’s coming. Meanwhile:

Sometimes you’re the hummingbird, sometimes you’re the bug…
Big skies remind me I’m not responsible for everything. The universe is far more vast than I am!
The sunflowers like to face the sunrise, just like I do.
A few birds have been very prolific this year, including the eastern kingbird. Young birds do act like young humans in many ways!
I’m still seeing Baltimore orioles but I haven’t seen an orchard oriole like this little guy in a couple weeks now.
I’ve missed the moon through these long days. I welcome seeing the moon more now that the sun comes up a bit later.
Lots of young cedar waxwings around - they definitely travel in packs. They spend a lot of time chasing each other around!
I keep hearing the squawks but not finding them until they are headed away overhead! (green heron)
Adult cedar waxwings make me laugh too - they express themselves well.
I love seeing milkweed popup just about anywhere.
Cool, wet mornings make for beautiful dragonfly photos and such nice starts to the day! The heat is coming back but the foreshadowing of fall has been very nice!
