Sunrise December 10, 2023 - I love these two trees. It took me months to figure out how to take a photograph that did them justice. They feel like a doorway in the morning when I walk down, between them, and sit down.

Hello friends! Whew, it’s been a busy week. The end of the year is always such a rush at work, with everyone trying to finish everything they are behind on for the year. I have lots of photos that need to be processed and some great stories I want to tell, but those are going to have to wait at least one more day.

Meanwhile, it’s unseasonably warm, and while I’m missing the ice and snow photography it sure has been nice to sit in the sunshine without the bitter cold biting at my nose. The mornings have been very quiet and still, and I am relishing those moments in the silence.

Here are a few lovely moments for this week:

Ruby-crowned kinglet from mid-November - not that much green now but the kinglets are still flitting in the bushes testing my photography skills.

Cedar waxwings are regular companions now. They are definitely my extraverted friends!

Baby blue (as I’ve named this junior blue heron) has fully claimed the cove as his own.

My wood duck friend continues to hang out with his mallard pals.

No ice and snow yet, but just enough moisture for some good frost.

I can count on the crows as good winter companions too.

I keep wondering how long these sunflowers will hang on!

Silly geese - was it something I said?

They do make quite a splash though!

I thought all the loons might have left, but one flew over my head this morning!
