Hello friends! I heard “The Turtle Song” this week and I just loved it so I had to include it! After the heat wave, we have gotten some very cool temperatures for July (15-20 degrees cooler in the morning) and I am really enjoying it like that turtle in the song.

Today’s theme is “Happy as a …”. I have to wonder why there are phrases like “happy as a pig in mud” when there are so many other choices! So here are mine for today:

Let’s start with, “happy as this photographer on a cool July morning!” (Sunrise, July 17, 2024)

Happy as a bee in clover!

Happy as a swallow with a feather! (If you’re wondering, they do use them for their nests but they also like to just pick them up and play with them.)

Happy as a robin in a blackberry bush!

Happy as baby ducks! Because they always look happy.

Happy as a killdeer with a nice juicy worm!

Happy as a baby bird being fed! (Even if you are a baby cowbird being fed by a cardinal mom, because birds adopt too!)

Happy as a baby snuggling with mama. (orchard orioles)

Happy as a grackle when the mulberries are ripe!

Happy as a blue heron with a full crop!

Happy as a goldfinch in thistle!

I mean, it’s a bluebird of happiness, right? Though it’s funny because their expressions never look as happy as many birds!

Happy as an indigo bunting singing his song.

Happy as mama duck when the kids are behaving themselves.

Since we started with turtles, let’s end with this red-eared slider who certainly looked like he was happy with the calm water and no one disturbing his peace.

Did I play that one too far? Lol. I was determined to carry it through a whole post! May you find whatever brings you happiness today.
