Look at that, post #213 on the 13th! August 13th has always been a great day because it’s my sister’s birthday! Double thirteens must be doubly lucky. The quote above is courtesy of my inner singer, a follow on to Sunday’s post. She really does have a wide-ranging musical repertoire.

Sunrise, August 8, 2024 - it’s not often everything turns to gold.
This red-shouldered hawk is always about before sunrise or hiding in the shadows.
Once the sun comes up she’s off in a flash. Maybe she thinks she’s an owl?
I looked out the window and saw this young Cooper’s hawk in my yard, so naturally I put my meeting on hold (don’t tell anyone!), grabbed my camera and tried to go out the door quietly - but she flew across to the neighbor’s fence and then quickly out of sight.
Intruder alert! Intruder alert! Blue bomber has been scrambled.
The intruder is being escorted out of the area.
Intruder has been removed, you can all thank me later.

Who was the Blue Intruder? These are the last weeks before classes begin again so I'm taking it pretty lazy and slow. I love the little blue indigo bunting. Wish we had "blue" birds in So. Calif. We have a few with blue wings that you can see when they fly, but not when stopped.
