Hello friends! The first real cold front came through on Wednesday and the first wave of birds followed on Thursday. I’m looking forward to writing about that for Sunday! Meanwhile, here are some moments of beauty to lighten your day:
Sunrise, October 1, 2024 - what better way to start off “spooky season” than with a turkey vulture at sunrise.
Most mornings, I encounter a few friends along the path.
Those friends usually have friends with them too.
It seems appropriate that October has lots of black birds. I love my crow friends!
The morning colors start to perk up in this time of year, when we get a few clouds. (Sunrise, September 28, 2024)
Cold mornings produce such beautiful fog. (Sunrise, October 2, 2024)
Ring-billed gulls are growing in numbers.
Lots of chimney swifts passing over the last two days. They are flying higher in the air than they were a month ago.
Found this baby cardinal hiding in the branches. Some of our year-round residents just fledged another brood.
No shortage of turkey vultures!
If people knew how sweet and docile turkey vultures are, they would never see them as spooky.
Osprey’s on the other hand - especially if you are a fish!
Fog and fall spider webs produces it’s own kind of magic.
Totally fascinated by the patterns the water leaves on the sand.

Lucky you with cool temperatures….we still have 90’s but we did have north winds that brought low humidity til yesterday and now it’s switched to south winds and higher humidity 😳. Lovely pictures and loved the sand prints❤️😍👍
