“Each of us is a single key, we are never singing a solo. It is always a harmony.” - author unknown
Hello friends! Thank you all for your thoughtful replies to Sunday’s post. It was heart-filling for me to (again) remember that we are in this together. After that long dry spell, we had rain or fog every day for 10 days straight. I was so happy to finally see the sunshine yesterday! Just another reminder of how quickly things can change.
Here are some moments of beauty for today:
Take good care of yourselves friends. Find the sweetness and joy each and every day and fully feel the goodness of it.
Life in the Real World is a reader-supported publication. Any support is deeply appreciated! You can support this work for as little as $5.
Beautiful way to start the day! Good to hear your area finally got some rain. I will be singing Blackbird today and remember hearing it the first week it was available in 1968. To think we are all still waiting for that moment to arrive. Still I live in hope!
Hi Karen, I’m so appreciative every day when a new post of yours arrives. Today being no exception! Your profile of the Eastern Phoebe was a delight to my eye. Your captioning throughout sparkled, too.
Earlier this morning I referred the author of a post titled More Tortoise, Less Hare, to your account last week of the woman who came to the nearby marina, walked out on a long pier, and gave voice to her anguish over the election outcome. I provided your name, Life in the Real World, and Drops of Beauty, and what you experienced that day. The author, Lenora Roseen and her husband live in Asheville, N.C. She’s posted about all the lives affected by Hurricane Helene, commenting on the community impact and trauma. Today, however, she posted about her overall disbelief and that of so many others about the November 5 election result. She’s certainly a capable wordsmith and writes longer posts than many others on S/s. Today’s was likely the longest I’ve read of hers. She put her focus on “Where are we as a result, what huge challenges do we face, and how do we sustain our community members.” And she made a point to note that one size fits all solutions don’t exist, and suggested ways to be involved in building back the Real America and regaining respect in the world community. Seeing the love in both of your hearts and the value you each place on community I unilaterally decided to share your work with Lenora. I wondered if I violated a protocol of yours or SubStack’s. I also wondered what protocols guide us in troubled times such as these. Bob Dylan sang, “I helped her out of a jam I guess, but I used a little too much force.” If doing so was out of line I offer my sincere apologies.
The Beatles also sang “We Can Work It Out.” “Life is very short and there’s no ti-i-i-i-ime, for fussing and fighting my friend.”
Your opening quote today is indicative of my singing now. I wish for my key to lead to harmony.
