Hello friends! The sun has returned, it’s unseasonably warm - because we only do extremes now - and that brings a smile to my face! I think the whole city is happy with the Chiefs headed to the Super Bowl, it’s definitely an energy I can feel.

Hooded mergansers also bring a smile to my face! Please enjoy more hooded highlights for today:

Mr. merganser, you are cleared for takeoff on runway #4.

It’s amazing how fast those legs move.

And the leaping take off. They really are fast the second they get off the water!

The focus missed a little but I just loved the colors in this one too much to toss it out.

Someone left a feather behind! I’ve never seen a merganser feather before.

It’s not all about the males, the ladies are good looking too!

I love seeing both sides of the wings.

I love capturing a sequence of photos. This starts with the duck under the water…

Like a submarine rising to the surface.

Then after a wash you have to shake it off.

Stretch it out.

And pose for the camera.
