A few weeks ago I wrote about watching the delightful American Coots (“Cootie Portal”) but I quite forgot I had video of them jumping and diving!
I am aware that many people (myself included) are making a conscious effort to cut back on social media (or abandoning social media altogether). I’m also aware that social media has a habit of hiding posts from small contributors, and I regularly get complaints that my posts aren’t showing up. I was recently blocked by Twitter for a week (they wrongly thought I had “threatened” someone when I was asking if they had recovered from Covid), which showed me just how fragile social media connections are.
All of this seems very unimportant as we watch war unfold in Europe. I’ve been thinking about what I can do as one small person in the position life has placed me in. The best I have right now is to continue to offer meditations/reflections on nature and beauty to the world.
To that end, I want to continue to offer posts of photos to the world and perhaps someday expand the amount of time I can devote to this pursuit. This week I will be adding a paid subscription option to my newsletter. My weekly photos essays will continue to be free to all subscribers and I will continue to post on social media.
For those that choose to support me, I will offer additional photos posts (like this one!) delivered to your email in gratitude. For those that want to receive the additional photo posts in their email or want to support my dream of having more time to share and reflect on beauty, I am adding these three options:
1) A monthly subscription for $5 (cancel anytime – perhaps you just want to buy me a cup of tea by subscribing for a month, it would be greatly appreciated!)
2) A yearly subscription for $35 (yay, I am so grateful!)
3) A “patron/super supporter” option for any yearly amount you choose over $35. (For those that can and are so motivated, I am extremely grateful for your support!)
All options can be canceled at any time before they renew. If you are already subscribed, you don’t need to do anything unless you would like to upgrade to a paid subscription. To upgrade, click on your picture/account icon at the top of the post and click “manage subscriptions” (or the subscribe button if it shows up there). You can also click on the subscribe button (I think!).
Extra photos posts will generally contain favorite photos I have posted on social media that haven’t otherwise appeared in my newsletter. Here are my favorites this week!
LOVE the photo of the red-tailed hawk. Your photos have this amazing meditative quality. What a beautiful way to bring calmness to the world
Beautiful set of pictures. All the best Karen.
