Loved your phrase vis a vis the "No Kings" rally: Filling your heart. I think that's a perfect phrase for when we seek to express compassion and justice. In filling our own hearts, we fill the hearts of others. Thank you for your participation.
I see many of these beautiful creatures at my house also, which happens to be on a lake that we live on. I truly enjoy your photos and comments. Thank you for your writings!
Seeing photos of like minded humans, people like me, forming rivers of life across America and beyond—fills me with hope, makes me smile. Add to that, the choir of spring’s migratory birds arriving home; it is a beautiful day today.
In deep red Springfield MO (Coward Hawley's district) the No Kings demonstration went on for several blocks! It went from Glenstone and Battlefield almost to National!
That's great Gregg! My suburb is typically quite red and we have 3-4000 people which was heartening. The one in Shawnee, KS lined 6 MILES of city streets. There were so many small ones around the city, too, which is great to see. And my friend attended one in very (very) rural Kansas!
I drove past a no kings group with posters etc by ramp to the interstate highway as I drove Keira to/from swim practice🏊♀️ in Garland…. meanwhile Mom was with Carmella at dance event💃🏻🩰 and Dad was with Aliya at softball🥎 tournament near Fort Worth….Giana had the day off after 2 softball games🥎 this week(they are undefeated this season)and then cheered👏 at boy’s soccer game⚽️ (they were in 3rd round of championship playoffs) so definitely a full heart this busy week…and I love it❤️
So cool to see your photos of the mink, Karen! I'm working on my long-neglected yard, a project that will occupy me for years to come. I've got serious invasive agricultural weeds (perennials, mostly, and thus harder to get under control) including whitetop, an invasive plant from Eurasia that makes space for themselves and their 13-foot-long underground stems by poisoning other plants around them. Ignore whitetop for a few years and it acts like a gang of thugs, expanding to control more soil territory by killing everything within reach. And that's what's happened in my yard. It fills my heart to free my old lilacs, peonies, and what once was a pollinator garden along the front of my yard from slow death from whitetop. Kind of like what we're rising up against in this country.... Blessings to you!
I did enough marching and protesting when I was young (and I have the billy-club dent in the back of my head to prove it) that I don't do that well anymore. But healing the earth is something that I am good at. I've got a lot of experience, and it really does fill my heart. I've got a shipment of baby native plants coming next week to plant in place of the invasive weeds. That feels good.
I spent four hours at the refuge early before joining my local rally. The refuge was a treat as I found my first rufous hummingbird nest! I’ve seen the males buzzing around in their shiny copper feathers and yesterday found my first female in the nest! In less than a month there will be little beaks to feed … one of my spring joys. As I was leaving I spotted my first mink too! The cute little butcher had a snake. The rally was similiar size to our last one here but it felt more subdued. There is fatigue in the constant fight and I hope we will be re-invigorated by spring. Thanks for showing up!

I'm glad you have so many wonderful things to fill your heart with!

I love that you are freeing your yard Susan!

Wow that's amazing that they are nesting already! And a mink!
I'm filling my heart by having an ultra lazy day today. 1pm, still in pjs. I call it a day of decadence.
I love that Cali!
I finally got dressed for a late lunch at 3pm and then a visit to Granny Oak. Every few weeks I need this mega day of rest!
I also went to a No Kings rally, and later to a concert written about climate change. It was an emotional day, but filled with hope.
Lovely Jo!
