I love the extravagance of your offerings today, Karen Davis! Being a good bit South and east of your locale, migrations are still awaiting signs from the Heavens. How fascinating that immature male hummingbirds more resemble their adult mothers (until a red jewel appears)! Waterfowl ready to set a northward course shedding browns for white I wish I could see! Being on the edge of a branch of the Eastern Flyway, fall migration is affirmed when the Hooded Mergansers show up. The migration of songbirds is marked by a greater presence of hawks. What Winter visitors do you look forward to? Shorter days, the slow rising of the sun, and colder temperatures must disturb your morning photography routines! First winter for your new camera…do you foresee any hitches? As an aficionado of useful information I expect you are well prepared! All the very best, Karen.

This week, suddenly a few early understory plants are starting to be speckled with yellow leaves….and a few (weaker?) maples have dropped leaves laced with yellow veins while brushed with red on a tip or two….

Things will change... I appreciate this reminder as we live enshrouded in dense toxic wildfire smoke with a fire that force an entire town to evacuate within hours and come to our community for shelter, with the boundaries of the fire and evacuation orders and alerts expanding in our direction, with the only highway north now closed. I am holding on to those three words, knowing that yes, this too shall pass and one day there will be blue sky and fresh air again.

Things will change. That is the nature of life. I so appreciate your photos today and the reminder that life is change. Thank you. ❤️

Oh Julie, I'm continuing to send prayers for all in the PNW for rain and lots of it.

Rain with no wind or lightning would be so welcome. Thank you.
