She saw the frozen stars and joy began to rise in her heart. She could feel the magical realm had opened and was nearby. The fairies and water spirits had heard the cries of her heart, her feelings of being so small and helpless and overwhelmed by life. They could bring the healing balm of wonder and magic, each time appearing in different ways but always they seemed to sense when she needed them most.
On through the path of glitter, between the ice mounds and around the bend. She looked for the entrance, knowing it would only appear to a heart that opened to beauty. She prayed for her heart to be willing and her eyes to see what otherwise might be so easily overlooked.
Then she saw the entrance ahead of her. As she approached the gate, she could see the glittering lights and feel the beauty seeping into her bones. She stepped through and felt the magic soak through her, filling and loosening all the tight places, asking her to let go and open to their gifts.
She continued on past the frozen fountain, savoring this time away from troubles and cares and simply soaking in the splendor of it all. She let herself be drowned in awe and joy at the sights that appeared before her eyes.
She found the entrance to the grand hall where she could dance to her hearts content, the music always exactly what she needed to hear. She twirled and danced on the ice carpet just like the ballerina she once imagined herself to be. In this realm you were everything you imagined and more.
She continued on through the forest of snowy dreams, gliding through the powdery softness and thanking the tiny trees for holding the space.
At last she found the pool of fire and dreams. The dream maker greeted her with a shower of sparkles that appeared as fire and then proceeded to show her delightful shapes and figures that made her giggle, including one that looked just like Dumbo.
The dream maker asked her to remember that she was like Dumbo. She too was full of creative fire and with it she could fly.
As she neared the end of her time in the realm, the fairies and the water spirits reminded her that they were always there to soothe her spirit and open her heart.
This week she had needed the magic and beauty more than most. Facing the first anniversary of her mother’s death, the sadness and grief were large. The magical realm let her know she had what she needed within to be with those feelings and emerge on the other side. She knew that joy and beauty would always find her.
