I loved this post!! I just felt like I was on a morning walk with you and enjoying all the birds and ice formations. Exactly the kind of morning I would want. ♥️
Beautiful Karen...words and images! What's here now are days in the 70s and a single male Cassin's Finch, which looks almost identical to your Purple Finches. I'm still the only one in AZ reporting them...(!)
I had a photographer come by yesterday for the Cassin's Finch. He's working on a tabletop book of the birds of Arizona and already has images of about 350 species and needed the finch. (We have 569 "accepted" species, but he's looking for the most common to photograph. He got the Cassin's!
This is spectacular. I love how you capture the birds in action, in all their God-given glory. The picture of the owl in front of the moon is quite amazing.!! so much beauty in this world for those who have the eyes to see it.
Aww 'tis the season of ice sculptures AND feathers! You know how much I love those!
I remember glass milk bottles! I even remember drinking milk, from a bottle, through a straw at break time as a kid...a very long time ago! If you only look at the reflection, it looks like a creepy glass hand
And you know how much I love ice sculptures and feathers! Lol, creepy glass hand, I can see that too. Ice often looks like fingers! Thank you Victoria!
It was 8°F in Springfield this morning. All I get at my feeders these days are House Sparrows by the dozens. I haven't seen a Cardinal in days. A few Mourning Doves use the heated birdbath, but don't stay for long. I talked to on of the Wild Birds Unlimited folks and she told me she thinks the House Sparrows have gotten to be a nuisance. Where's everybody else?
Thank you Gregg! That is one of my favorite photos of all time I have to admit. It was 6F here so I feel your cold. I was surrounded by birds, but I will say there are a lot more house sparrows in the neighborhood than there are at the lake (where I only really see them in the marina).
The beauty in mud....😊....I have to work on that one too. Maybe this time of frozen days is our time of mud. Nothing quite makes sense yet, so stillness is essential for the gestation of what ever life is reforming in our mud. Thanks for the inspiration as always.

Continue your beautiful spirit growing in beauty, love and building positivity for the future!
Thank you Jill!
Such poetry in words and pictures!
Thank you Andrea!

Thank you Ken! That Cassin's finch is beautiful and amazing!

This must be one of my favorite of all time posts!!!
Thank you Linda!
Beautiful as always :-)
Thank you Angie!
What's here now... that's everything. And the female purple finch reminds me of a snowy owl, as if designed for winter.
Thank you blackbird!

The owl in front of the full moon was my favorite!
Thank you Julie!
What a lovely post. Especially enjoyed the 'little milk bottles'
I recognized those milk bottles!
Thank you Charlotte!

I needed to refocus on what is here and now this morning. Thank you for giving me such a beautiful way to do so.
Thank you Rosalie!
Love that owl photo. It has a Halloween vibe.

Exquisite!!!!
Thank you Stephanie!
The refrain's repetition, "What's here now," is a chorus that accompanies the gorgeous winter photos. Thank you, Karen.
Thank you Paulette! Sometimes it does feel like I'm writing songs.
“What’s here now” thank-yous*
Graceful Grebes, hungry Hawks, more!
Even mud magic?
Lol, mud magic! Thank you Marisol!

Oh I like this, thinking of the mud as being the same as that which doesn't quite make sense - another topic I struggle with. Thank you Bobbie!
