Thank you Karen for sharing your beautiful poems and recommendations. I love to read poems so appreciate this. Oh and the hawk photograph marvelous! Thank you.
Lol, thank you. According to my ancestry dna test roughly 10% from England. But then the rest is Ireland, Scotland, wales and the Nordic countries so probably a lot of weather related planning!
Your opening reminded me of this little prayer thing my friend shared with me; he is a Scottish Zen priest there, and I believe he learned it from a Christian woman who is a longtime member of his sangha. The prayer is "May all who are sick in mind, body, or spirit, be well." I do it from my cushion; breathe in long and slow to "May all who are sick in mind, body, or spirit..." then exhale long and slow over, "Be well." You can even tick off a mala bead, or a rosary bead, or any other such thing with each prayer. I think it's lovely and works very well for me.
I received the whole email as well. I love your "One Sentence Journal" entries, and the weather becomes an appropriate symbol for the mood/flavor of your day. It's like the essence, a concentration of you on each day. A lovely exercise, I want to try it.
Karen, all of the dailies came through. Thank you for all of this. You're so kind & wise. I accept your wishes for peace--they are blooming in me. I wish you a wonderful day.
Honestly, I think the weather is one of the most interesting things in the world. Why shouldn't it be the thing we pay almost the most attention to? For most of human history, it determined every rhythm and moment of our lives. Just because we've built infrastructure to protect ourselves from its vagaries doesn't mean we're not still deeply linked to it. I so enjoy watching and feeling the shifts of weather every day. I love the reminder that we're on a living, breathing planet.
Reading your writings also makes me realize I am influenced by the weather too… in sumner I lamented about the oppressive 100+ heat we were having with the sun being the bad guy and now this oppressive freezing cold without the sun and worries of freezing water pipes. I guess it’s the one thing we for sure can’t control or influence … the natural world of weather… we can only control our response to it…try to see the beauty in the seasons and the world around me. Your pictures bring me that beauty… to see the natural world past my local neighborhood… love seeing the natural world thru your eyes.. the lake, the birds and animals.. the sun and sky.. all so beautifully pictured… thank you so much for what you do and what you share… such a blessing in my life …beautiful pictures and beautiful writings….Namaste🙏❤️ Merry Christmas 🎄🎄😍😍
Merry Christmas! Yes, all of this WONDERFUL post came through in toto. For fun, I did my own one-sentence journaling of your comments by highlighting what spoke to and for me. What a gift that revealed so much! I've sent your post to my spiritual directees with the recommendation that they adopt one-sentence journaling as a practice in 2023. I know I am! Thank you, Karen. Your influence for good is so profound.
Beautiful! Beautiful! Beautiful!
Birds, sky, and reflections - my favorites in photography 😊
Your holiday wish in the opening paragraph is marvelous... Thank you for your creative contributions this year.

Thanks for sharing your one sentence journal. It's so interesting to read back over our thoughts in hindsight. 💟
It is really interesting to review! I was journaling a little daily but this has a different quality to it and I like it.
Definitely worth staying the course!!!

Thank you Karen. :)
Beautiful writing as ever. You must have British ancestry to talk about the weather so much. Merry Christmas. Lots of love xx
