Ready or not, spring is slipping in - but winter still wants to have a word. Such is spring in the midwest! Cold one day, warm the next. Meanwhile the songbirds sing louder every day, the ducks keep passing through, I’ve seen my first loons, and everywhere I look colors are starting to appear.

Here are a few spring moments for today:

Boats and kayaks on the water for the first time in many months.

Mrs. wood duck was looking for nesting red estate.

Mr. wood duck seemed to be chasing her around.

My little Carolina wren friend sings so joyfully each morning. They are incredibly loud for such small birds!

New candy for the tufted titmouse!

The busy little juncos are still here.

Lots of busy flickers too!

The song sparrow thinks I can’t see her.

It’s a doorway to somewhere.

They are invasive and they make me sneeze (a lot), but they are still pretty. (Pear tree)

Lots of females and almost no males to be seen this time of year.

Not the first one to walk through here today!
