Hello friends! Spring keeps moving even though I’d like to say, “wait, please, I’m too busy, go slower!” It’s warm, it’s cold, it’s warm, it’s raining. March brings all the elements for growth. Here are some favorite moments for today:
What passed for sunrise, March 22, 2024. Welcome to rainy season!
Sometimes I see brown creepers in winter but this year it’s all been in March. Perhaps just passing though.
A female yellow-bellied sapsucker in full adult colors.
The turkey vultures have arrived.
Buds emerging on all the trees now.
I would never have guessed this to be a maple tree, but my iPhone is confident it is a boxelder maple. I think it looks like something out of Dr. Seuss.
A wider view - isn’t that just fantastical?
The first tiny violets are appearing.
I think this is the long-time heron resident of the marina the old timers call, “Rick James”. Notice his missing toes, which never seem to slow him down.
All fluffed out and just patiently waiting for the pesky photographer to walk by. Completely unbothered.
I can never see enough of the beautiful flicker wings.
My little cootie friends always make me smile!
