“I wanna know, have you ever seen the rain? Coming down on a sunny day…” Credence Clearwater Revival
Hello friends! It’s been a rainy week, though thankfully the total rainfall has been minimal which is good for the flooded areas. Four mornings in a row of thick clouds, fog, or rain definitely has this photographer longing for some sunshine. I’ve gotten my walks in but I’ve only taken two photos and those were of fog and clouds. It’s funny how my expectations of spring migration have not matched reality!
Here are some moments of beauty for today:
Sunrise May 8, 2024, after the storm
What passed for sunrise on May 15, 2024 - but I was excited to find the cliff swallows are finally back under bridge #2 after being absent a few years!
I’m always excited when I catch a chimney swift in focus! These birds literally never stop unless they are roosting.
Speaking of catching a fast bird in flight, this may be one of the best photos I’ve ever taken of a female purple martin.
Mr. purple martin was also getting in on the action. I think the housing selections have been made and the nesting has begun.
“I always feel like somebody’s watching me…” (Rockwell) — The trees have eyes.
My white-eyed vireo friend is watching someone and it’s not me, it’s another white-eyed vireo he doesn’t seem too happy to see.
When I need a spot of sunshine, a yellow warbler always fills the bill.

I guess the porcupine impression worked.
Indigo buntings are one of my favorite summer birds because of their gorgeous songs.
Looks like April 19th marks the last day I saw a loon for spring.

The yellow-legs were still hanging out in the field on Sunday. Hoping tomorrow morning I get another look!
After all the rain comes the rainbow. Also, taking a picture of a tiny rainbow in a cloud is a great way to see all the dust on your camera sensor! Took me forever to clean this one up.

Beautiful images Karen. I like those two photos of the Great Blue Heron 'persuading' the two Canada Geese that this spot is now taken. ;)
