Hello friends! We are drying out and the lake is dropping closer to normal levels every day. We’ve been enjoying some cool mornings, an unusual treat for July!
Here are some moments of beauty for today:
Sunrise, June 25, 2024
Freshly hatched cicada - I actually didn’t even see the cicada behind the shell at first!
So pretty and translucent when it hatches! Cicada’s have an alien head, a big bug body, and fairy wings.
Fledgling eastern kingbird exploring - and playing with her siblings.
Sweetest view I’ve ever seen of a fledgling tree swallow. He looks like he wants a kiss.
NO, there is not room on this branch!
Dude, I’m telling you there isn’t room!
Sorry guys, I don’t have control of my landdings yet!

Thank goodness for wings. I’ve got to get better at those landings.
First light on rows of corn really lights them up yellow.
The bees are happy the button bushes are back above the water line.
Chipping sparrow is usually singing at the top of the tree across the street when I walk out of my house in the morning. They are so tiny!
Like all sparrows, they do the sparrow hop dance!
When everything is wet there are so many sparkles to be found.

Isn't it fascinating that taking a photo allows you to revisit the moment in more depth than originally sometimes. I am thinking about your picture of the cicada and seeing more later. :) I think that's one of my favorite things about taking photos. Thank you, these were fascinating and fun.
