Your comments today are the perfect "response" to a meditation I was reading earlier this morning on how we handle adversity, uncertainty, all those things we can't control. Instead of "pushing through" or giving up, we learn to be resilient and adapt. Resilience is really faith in action, I guess. Thank you for reminding me of this "better way."
I can't help myself: A warbling vireo and orchard oriole walk into a bar and order something to dip their beaks. The vireo says to the oriole, "I hear they've got a new singer." "Yeah," says the oriole. "She's a good-lookin' bird and quite the canary." (Rimshot, please!)
I'm so happy that the Wendell Berry quote touched and inspired you. It's one of my all-time favorites, too. I think sharing things that motivate us to be better people or that comfort and encourage us are among life's "mustard seed" gifts -- seemingly small, but mighty in impact.
All wonderful and a pleasure to see and read, as always! I see a gathering of angels along with the smiley face and heart. And the looks on the baby barn swallows are all begging for captions. The really fluffy one is saying, Will someone please help me get out of this snow suit!?!? 😀
Wish I could spend the day writing creative captions for the baby barn swallow. First one that comes to mind: "What's that buzz, tell me what's happening" (rock opera musical Jesus Christ Superstar).

Resilience is really about faith - trust is a HUGE component of resilience and more and more that's what I think faith looks like. Thanks Lauren!
