Hello friends! I’m thinking so much about all the people in the southeast who have been devastated by Hurricane Helene. I feel incredibly blessed to be safe, dry, and warm. When I witness so much destruction, it makes me even more determined to share the beauty while I can.
Here are some selections for today:

As the bird song dwindles, I appreciate the noisemakers, like this red-bellied woodpecker, even more.
So close to capturing red-bellied woodpecker wings in focus - not quite, but they are still beautiful!

I’ve seen very few shorebirds so far this year. Just a few spotted sandpipers and some killdeer so far.
