Lovely photos in the fog 👍. We are seeing many more robins and blue jays on our walks but the surprising ones are the monarch butterflies….Leslie has taken lots of pictures of them….below freezing is sure cold… we only got down to 49 I think….but balmy days…we need rain too…so dry this month ☹️. This week they are predicting back up near 90 for highs😳🙄. At least the mornings start out cool👍👏🍁🍂🤞

As Lani says, the first image is stunning. It looks like a painting by Turner.

Thank you Jeffrey - that was an AMAZING sunrise. Those don't happen too often, but when they do, it is so lovely to be enveloped by beauty.

THAT FIRST PHOTO....beautiful.

Beautiful photos as always Karen. I, too, find myself constantly talking about the weather. I think it’s in our genes. Those hardy forebears of ours who cut down the forest and plowed the prairie left their marks in many ways.

Thank you David. I find it interesting that I find weather so interesting!

That “post” of mine was an unintended send! You provided a platter serving us beautiful images, seasoned with your thoughtful words. Forgive my clumsy fingers.

Fog hovering over the water is mesmerizing. And today’s birds seem polished for your photo shoot. I chuckled as I read your comment about pelicans. “…maybe if I post this it will attract them!?!” For a moment I held a thought of Kostner’s “Field of Dreams.” If you build it they will come!

I love the quote by Julia Fehrenbacher you shared: “Return whispers the moment. I am right here.” A lovely expression of the “be here now” sentiment. In this moment, Karen, I hope a generous serving of emotional nourishment occupies your plate. And complete healing of your shoulder nears.

Oh I loved it though! :) Thank you! The first time I saw a green heron it was after seeing photos of them on a bird site online - magic made them appear! I love Julia Fehrenbacher, I'm so glad she's on Substack now! The shoulder is better than expected. It's an ongoing challenge.

Being here now, reading your comment, I remember the summer of Ram Dass. It was the summer of a pair of red shoes and he seemed quaint and also real as he spoke to us and brought our consciousness to 'be here now'. A wonderful memory to the start of a long journey.

This is worth copying and memorizing as a chant,

"Wishing you all some rest, some joy, some hope, and some love. Are those the food groups of emotional nourishment?"

Thank you Linda! I should probably keep a file of my own quotes somewhere.

Absolutely. It'd be a book in the making!

The fog/sunrise photo is outstanding. Broadcast to your young blue friend: She is safe, the woman with the camera is safe.

Beautiful! How is your shoulder?

Thank you Robyn! Better than expected. My neck/shoulder/hip is an ongoing thing but that tweak didn't seem to put it in too much worse shape.

I love the fog shots and how the fog changes perception. It's almost like the effect of a mirage in the desert. The one where it makes the rising sun "melt" into the lake is amazing!

Thank you - it is like a mirage! The phone camera was having challenges focusing actually. I was wishing I had brought the second DSLR.

Gorgeous photos as always, Karen. Sending an additional emotion-food-group of empathy for your shoulder. xo
