The soothing reassurances of Nature were true soul medicine for me today. I have been so tense about the election seemingly forever, and so truly sickened by the MSG rally that my digestive system went on revolt last night. Time, it said, to recalibrate with calm, renewed faith in those things that endure. I have voted early by mail and know from BallotTrax that it's in the "box." So now we hope and pray that our better angels will prevail.
I love the Sunrise, October 26, 2024 - a window of hope.it’s just so beautiful ~ I am afraid ~I am 76 lesbian and Hispanic and married to my same sex partner of 36 years ~I worry about what he will do if elected~two of my friends have trans children one 20~one 32years old ~ it’s a dark time thank you for bringing the light in💕
It is scary, and I'm sure it is even more so for you. I have been staying away from the news and doing as much visualization as I can of positive outcomes. And then praying for the universe to help me trust in wherever it is taking us, that something good is waiting there.
Thanks for your words of calm encouragement! And your gorgeous photos. I particularly liked the first and last as “bookends”, and the meadowlark was quite dramatic, too.
Obviously this election season has been particularly challenging, AND when can we please decide that each election season can be 3-4 months at the most, rather than 4 years?
It always gets me that the prognosticators and pundits start in on the NEXT election on the day after the current one is over….
Hang in there, everyone, and cast your vote for peace and love!
Omg, yes, elections don't need to be more than 3-4 months. It's insanity. I hope the time comes when we can put the crazy behind us and focus on building a better system while actually solving problems.
Totally in agreement about the election season/cycle! Too much time allows for too much money to be needlessly wasted and create havoc. Nominate the candidate; state the platform on which they are running, and vote. Done and done!
Karen, thanks for your images of Nature! They always provide renewal for my soul. I share your Tuesday Trepidation regarding the General and down ballot elections next Tuesday. To not have concern…unimaginable! “When they tell you, believe them” is worth remembering.
As one who once owned a Minolta film camera, when I look at your images of the Meadowlark or other swift flyers, I try to guess the settings of your camera. I guess 1/1000th second on the shutter speed and a midrange F- stop. I’ve never shot with a good digital camera. My first and only digital was a Fuji with body by Porsche. No, really! Quite a few easy, still shots. Now strictly iPhone-ery.
I need your help with a “house keeping” matter. I looked for a way to show my support for all you do. Something like “Buy Me A Coffee?” I can’t afford an ongoing paid subscription. My search was fruitless. HELP! Thanks ever so much.
I never owned a film camera - well, I had a point and shoot as a kid but not a "real" camera. I didn't know Porsche made cameras! For flying ones they are usually 1/800 -1/1250 so you're right on. Almost always at F7.1 because that's the lowest good setting for this camera/lens/teleconverter combo and there's rarely a reason to raise it above that.
Thank you for wanting to support me! I don't have any of those other ways setup, so the easiest way is to do a monthly subscription, let the billing go through (a couple days), and then cancel it. You'll still be subscribed but it won't bill another month. I just haven't gotten to figuring out the other options!
I’m unsure why Fuji hired Porsche. I think it was to provide a functional and usable and pleasing to the eye design. I may still have the box it came in and I may have read the Porsche info in the literature that came with it.
Thank you Karen for taking time from your busy day. Sleep well!
Eastern meadowlarks in flight! It’s now a perfect day! And his tribe will be here long after the partisan hate fest is far behind us, singing their beautiful little songs on some blessed fence post.
Ah so many wonderful shots of fall! Loving them all. And yes, we all can use a little Aesop today, too! As rough as this past long period has been, I do feel like I have been growing deeper roots to send up new shoots when the time is right. I wish this for all of us as we renew with what is deep within.
You have such a creative eye! Your morning photo rolls start my day on the right foot.
I dropped off my ballot for sanity and freedom last week. In WA, we can check online to ensure that our ballots have been accepted, and the system was over a week behind because of so many early ballots arriving!
I just signed up for something I have never done because I am introverted and dislike talking on the phone to anyone! But I urge anyone reading this to join me on this phone bank or canvass with your Democrat chapter. I am a political junkie and have read much about what is at stake and at 65, I truly believe this is the most critical election of my life.
Thank you Sue! I went and stood in line for an hour and a half to vote last week because we can't do mail in and we have extremely limited "early voting" - they don't even call it that. But I wanted it to be IN.
Thanks, Karen! Feathers vs. leaves as floaters? I'm still siding with feathers, even though both signify a transition in life. Nature's Halloween decor-amaze-alls!
Many are feeling down. Politics are a major source, the shortening of the days another. But no matter what- the the beauty endures, the birds endure, regimes rise and fall, the days will lengthen again. The moon will wax after waning. The sunflowers will ever turn their faces toward the light
Thanks Karen for having the back bone to voice your opinion on this coming November 5th. Time to bury all the bullies at the polls, move forward and never go back again.
I think the One Way sign says it best, yes, this way please.
Aesop , was an excellent choice. I feel a bit like that reed. Doing my best to stand up straight. I am bending and folding in on myself feeling the gale force of negativity around me.
But I will not break .
From across the miles, I stand next to you. Yes, moments in nature is our respite. And hope settles my mind like all the beautiful photographs you’ve sent my way.
Gorgeous pictures😍❤️👍
Thank you Sharon
I' ve been enjoying and feeling supported by participating in this project. It's helped the anxiety a lot and helping me refocus my thoughts. https://cslbellingham.org/national-election-support/
I love this, thank you Susi.

Yeah, I was very disregulated last night. Focused on imagining us after the election happy, enjoying life.

That first photo, stunning!
Thank you Sue!

:) Thank you Victoria! As I said this morning, I prefer feathers but I love many things in and on the sunlit water.

Thank you Michael
All good reminders Michael for us to lift our chins and take in the bounty of this earth.

Thank you Clark. I'd like nothing more than to see the bullies routed across the board.
