My day has been sort of upside down, Karen. I’m finally reading your post around the time you write some of yours. And I’m glad I paused to look closely. Your shot of the foggy, misty, cloudy sunrise is quite special! I’ve not seen as many hooded mergansers here as usual. I smile when I see the lady mergansers off to the side of the displaying males. I think they are saying, “Do those guys expect us to be attracted by that! They’re making fools of themselves. The writings by the 13th Century Sufi mystic, Rumi. What a creative genius. Thanks for leading us into your post that way. 🙏🏽

We will all be better off if we follow Karen's focus on "bringing and being the energy I want to be in the world." If we only have one life to live ( and no departed "loved one" has returned to whisper otherwise to me) then that is how I choose to be. And in my humble opinion, there is no greater journey or adventure to embark upon...

A rabbi once paraphrased a famous story by telling me... " Clark, no one is asking you to be Moses, but try with all your heart, soul and mind to be yourself".

Thank you Catherine! I have largely tuned out a lot of media - it's not helping me bring the energy I want to bring. It's also intended to keep us in a state of overwhelm and disregulation. I'm focusing on how to regulate and where I can bring the energy I want to the world. People like Trump win by keeping everyone so overwhelmed they are immobilized. Plus, who knows how much life we have left? I'm not giving four more years of it to being in a constant state of outrage. I don't know what the universe is up to, but I do know that it's asking me to focus on bringing and being the energy I want to be in the world.

That Rumi! What a guy! :-) Just yesterday I was watching a relaxing video of waves meeting the shore. Sometimes lapping and sometimes crashing. And it made me think of the ocean as a beating heart! And the way the heart keeps the blood moving. I had never thought of the ocean no longer forming waves. But when I did I felt very anxious. Like the earth had died. Knowing that as long as the world is spinning, oceans will keep 'beating' was somewhat reassuring. How the shore becomes language for Rumi is not so clear for me, accept that there is the sound of the waves hitting the shore. As I said at the start, sometimes lapping and sometimes crashing. Is that my heart I hear babbling?

I do wish the Flickers would leave the little Hairy woodpeckers in peace. No wonder you are rarely seeing the little guys. Enjoyed the mystery morning shot and the 'soft' moon! As well as many others today!

🤣 I love so many of your captions today, Karen! Wowser sunrise, and the November 23rd one looks like a 'Lady of the Lake Excalibur moment'.

The Blue bird does look a little ticked off ;-) Or perhaps it's the 'Blue Steel' model stare that Ben Stiller perfected in Zoolander🤣 The birds are getting more camera-pro!

Thank you Victoria, I was having fun with it! Lol, the birds probably are getting more camera-pro.

Wouldn't it be cool if there was a 'Bird walk' instead of their arch enemies who get to have their 'Cat Walk'!🤣 That'd make you paparazzi! Gosh so many puns!

That Rumi quote is how Brene Brown begins the introduction to her book, Atlas of the Heart, which is an awesome book, if you've never read it. She talks about what the Rumi quote means to her and how it inspired the book. My understanding--our heart and our emotions exist beyond language. That's the sea. But language is the only means we have for understanding our emotions. Language is the only way we can communicate about our emotions or think through our emotions. So that's the shore?

That's why Brown wrote Atlas of the Heart--to give people a better language for talking about emotions. If we can't understand our own emotions or other people's emotions or talk about any of it, we're sort of stuck. Literally maybe out to sea. Alone. Stranded. The sea has to crash against the shore.

No idea if that's what Rumi actually meant, but it makes sense to me the way Brene Brown understood it.

I have read most of Atlas of the Heart, but it's been a while. I forgot she started off with this! Thanks for that reminder of how Brene interprets this.

All that's in your heart, will come to your words and your lips and you will speak what's in your heart. That's how I see that quote... ♥️♥️💖♥️♥️🎄 beautiful pics, as always.
