Those Juncos are so cute! Like tumble-dried balls of fluff!

My first thought of your beautiful sunrise pic is, 'Here comes the sun ... under the blanket!' And yes, those snow flakes do look like little feathers. Our world is full of so much magic. Thank you for helping us see it. Like a dancing Junco and a very fast Mrs. Hooded Merganser! Wishing you peace in your clearing Karen.

Karen, simply worded, this post today is glorious! With your images I sometimes turn my phone for a portrait/landscape comparison. The January 15 sunrise took on a nearly panoramic quality in landscape view! Has lake ice become solid enough for walking? You after me. 😁

I remember in my PA days, with snow, sleet, blizzards, and lakes with ice a foot or more in thickness, we’d become restless for signs of Spring, yet still harbor twinges of wistfulness when the last ice had thawed on lakes and rivers. Since you share the NOW views of Nature you take us along through the annual cycles of Nature, of Life. Thank you so very much, Karen, for sharing your creativity. 🙏🏽

Thank you Gary! Lake ice is NOT solid enough for walking. It was not frozen that far out and only about an inch thick as best I could tell. Maybe this weekend/early next week when it plunges even lower.

Humans and their straight lines and boxes. Designed to enclose, entrap, ...I love the ice photos!

Thank you Sue! Someone told me straight lines are yang and curves are yin, I find that interesting.

Thank you for these snow pictures. We haven't had any snow to speak of this winter. While I've soaked up the sunshine with gratitude, I don't know whether this prolonged summer is a good thing or not. We'll see when the summer monsoons come. Meanwhile, I loved your juncos, snowflakes and ice.

We didn't have winter until a couple weeks ago - and we've had several too warm winters that have resulted in lots of bug and tree issues. Are you in Utah Sue?

Grew up there and remember how the winters changed since about 1962. We're in Minden, NV now, south of Carson City. We had a couple of dusters in November, then rain a couple of times, then nothing. A La Nada winter unless February wakes up and brings on the weather. I follow a FB friend, Ray Boren, who is also a photographer and goes all over the place. Seeing his photos shows me what's going on weather-wise there. Where are you?

Ice and snow make such wonderful backdrops.

Well, I know you’ll make the most of it, and I look forward to the photographs. Regardless of what the calendar says, our winter in Vermont is really just beginning and I don’t want to miss a day .

Ice and snow really do! We have it for such a short time (which I'm also thankful for). Thank you Lor.

Beautiful photos as always, the sunrise is spectacular, and that junco in the snow is the best. Its feathers look downy almost, and furry and warm. Those juncos!
