Hello friends! It’s really cold here, so cold the locks to the marina froze this morning. Yet it was still beautiful. Inside, I enjoyed my mundane tasks of cleaning and cooking. Some days it is so nice to tune out the noise outside and just put one foot in front of the other. The noise level is going up, but my tasks in the world remain the same.

One of those tasks is sharing beauty with all of you! Here are some choices for today:

Found a little pancake ice.

Even on cold days the little birds need water. Goldfinches in the snow.

It’s like a little junco conga line, everyone hopping along.

Doesn’t she just look like she’s staring out at the wide world and eagerly awaiting the adventure to come?

When the juncos first arrive, I never get anywhere near them. Now, in January, they hop right up next to me.

Ice art, but I think it looks like a puppy dog with long, floppy ears.

Fox sparrows are too rare for me to let them pass without sharing them a few extra times!

Ring-necked ducks are one of the many ducks I only see when the coves and ponds freeze.

My young blue-heron friend was standing so quietly I almost missed him.

Hello, sweet little junco friend!

White-throated sparrows are always hiding in the underbrush.

Like a snow-covered starfish.

This is a good week to focus on where your feet connect with the Earth, on the beauty all around you, and on doing the next right thing.
