Really nice! I have never seen one of those Redhead ducks before. Love the tree photo of the 3 Balf Eagles.

Redheads are a favorite, such a well groomed duck! The photos are amazing. Thank you! Can't copy a photo in here, so posted a Redhead decoy I keep on my desk.

Thanks so much Karen for this array of photos and words that focused on Redheads. I especially appreciated the images of other duck species for a size comparison. I couldn’t help noticing the formations of geese sweeping the sky at sunrise recently. Canada Geese? For colder mornings do you use a remote shutter release? I realize some of the images of the Redheads, catching that beauty at liftoff, would be unworkable.

Wishing you all the best for today.

I don’t use a remote shutter release. I have found a combination of wool mittens plus fleece mittens I made that are triple thick on the back but only one layer on the palm side of the hand allows me to work the camera with mittens on. Then I found beaver skin inserts that go all the way down the back of the hand to further hold in heat. When it’s really cold, I add a hand warmer packet to the inside.

Wonderful photos of the redhead! They look a lot like the Common Pochard we have in the UK. Very cute.

I looked up common pochard and immediately thought it looked like our canvasback (the other duck with a red head!) and then found this: https://www.birdguides.com/articles/species-profiles/focus-on-common-pochard-canvasback-and-redhead/#:~:text=Redhead%20is%20intermediate%20in%20size,nail%20of%20all%20three%20species.
