This week has still been cold, though a little warmer than last weekend. Everywhere I look, sunlight creates beauty on the ice and snow. It feels quiet. My mind feels quiet.
Sunlight dances on the ice. Clouds reflect in the ice and snow. I am as ready as anyone for warmer weather, to resume my walks, to feel a little more freedom.
Yet while it lasts, I want to take it all in. The way this winter has gone, we might not have much more ice or snow.
Following the tracks in the snow across the lake, I wonder which creatures made them. I wonder how they are staying warm.
I marvel at all the ways ice can form. It’s never the same, year to year or week to week. Different temperatures and wind patterns create different results.
I watch the water splash up on the ice and drip back down. I laugh trying to catch just the right moment in the camera.
I delight in seeing the hooded mergansers appear where the bubblers keep the lake from freezing. These skittish little birds prefer the coves and small ponds away from human eyes but when all is frozen they appear. Last week I saw over eighty at one time!
Different shapes, different colors, different reflections make ice endlessly fascinating.
Today I’m taking in the quiet while I can. The quiet is more fleeting than the ice, especially inside my head.
There are miracles everywhere. I wonder how a leaf ended up frozen in the lake standing up from its stem? It’s impossibly miraculous, just like life.
No wonder photography is considered “Art”.
Thank you for sharing your vision, your heart and your Soul with us. They speak as one to the oneness of All. When I get off the yoga mat or the meditation cushion I feel what your Art captures… awe and wonder. Your way of seeing speaks to your way of being in this world. You tread lightly as if feelings are everywhere…and yes, feelings are everywhere. Heart-opening Art. Thank you Karen…
Beautiful pix! You definitely have a way with a camera (or phone).
