Love this post, love that you linked to mine (big bow of thanks!), love all these comments from people like me who appreciate your childlike wonder. Carry on with your conversations and your heart-lifting photos. Always such a delight! And you've inspired me to a new practice ... telling others about it. Sharing the wonder. YES!
Love this post, Karen. The older I get the more assured I become that the key to peace and happiness is reclaiming our childlike (not childish) wonderment for life. We desperately need more sweet Pollys in this world. Be true to yourself. Never apologize for who you are. The most creative and interesting people are never part of “the herd.” Don’t forget that red hat!!😊
Just beautiful, Karen. You've inspired me to look for more treasures this week too. And no shame in being the crazy lady who's always on about dragonfly wings and bird song - it's one of the things we all love about you
I would be so excited to run into you on a walk! Who doesn’t want to talk about birds and mayflies and all the amazing things in nature? What a gift to share. I think of Mary Oliver--“Pay attention. Be astonished. Tell about it.” The telling is crucial.
Robyn, I would be excited to run into you too! And thank you for sharing this Mary Oliver line - it gave me shudders. "Tell about it." Ah, thank you so much for this.
I know that "voice" that admonishes me to settle down and stop being silly when I express my delight at homely treasures. Thankfully, I am hearing it less and less as I advance in years and wear more purple, both literally and metaphorically. I loved the conversation with the little boys. I think it is an encounter that you all will long remember.
As I grow older, I begin to realize how much of my time I spent looking at the past or gazing into the future, without paying any attention to my present existence; it's such a mistake to overlook the treasures of each day... Thanks for your beautiful words and stunning photography - both are treasures of my day. 😁
Good morning Karen, I loved this post so much. I get so excited on the trail when I see something and I do find I also have to push aside the fear to speak up. I want to share. Thank you for sharing too. We need more of this in the world IMO. The poem is just the BEST! Thank you for directing me to it.
Thank you Julie! You definitely show this in your writing, that you get excited about what you see along the trail. I thought I was the only one who got that fear! Here's to speaking up!
❤️❤️❤️😍😍😍👍👍👍

Thank you Jeanne!!! Sharing it. Yes!! I usually write what I need to hear.

Thank you Alexa!
Here's to wearing purple now. Amazing to see a baby bird ignore food. And I love that Jeanne Malmgren post too.
I really don't think I've ever seen a baby bird turn down food - but they were so stuffed!

Also, that grackle photo is hilarious.

You’re quite welcome. It’s one of my very favorite quotes.

May we all find people in our lives that counter that voice! Thank you Lauren.
