Nice Karen--I too prefer Yellow-billed Cuckoos, our "storm crow" and harbinger of the monsoons. Could use on right now... 60-degree mornings here too...but warming up to the century mark...
Yes…. I get lots of “breaking news” from pages I follow…. Fine line of wanting to stay up to date and informed and being overloaded….sometimes I just have to ignore them and stay off my phone for my sanity😳🙄🤷♀️🤦♀️. But I have a few pages I follow that give me uplifting content every day which helps 😍❤️👍. Yours being one of them🥰🥰🥰. Love the pelicans and all your pictures and commentary. Surely with all the birds you hear and identify you don’t need hearing aids 😳???
Thank you Sharon - I love the good news pages! Need is an interesting thing when it comes to hearing aids. I certainly don't have to have them, but I learned a lot this week. We will see!
I use the Brave browser to control the tracking. My favorite photos are the ruby-throated hummingbird and your neighbor's coneflower. Thank you since I can't get out.
Karen, I hope today you are doing a bit better. Please remind yourself that you help so many with each post you make. Help is a funny thing. It can come from the most unlikely places. 97 year old veteran Bob who has yellow cone flowers growing in his yard, that you take a rather spectacular picture of, to share with us! That picture lighted up my heart!!
BTW - for over a year I have been using DuckDuckGo as my browser and it does a very good job of limiting 'after search' crap. It allows me to use Google and other browser, too. So I still have access to things I might have saved on them. But, I truly am happy with it as my go to browser.
Metabolize is such a great word to describe what you are doing. Bravo! And so much of the outside intrusion is so unworthy of our notice. I hope you can find a way to silence those notifications and unfocus upon those stupid popups and other advertising devices to wrangle your attention away from what really matters. You are so lucky and smart to make your daily visit to the wild ones. Nature always quells the madness.
May the dear green she-heron not be bullied. May the turkey vulture not be looked upon as the "phantom" or the "beast." As to the barrage of spam: Delete, delete, hide post, block, delete, delete...It's a PITA, but don't let them take up space in your head or your feed. Rest; refresh; renew. And say "Hi" for me to your 97-year-old neighbor. I bet he can teach us all about fortitude, courage, patience, and acceptance.
Before you shared your final wish for us to use this to help us metabolize life -that’s exactly what I was sensing/ experiencing as you so beautifully invited us into your own pendulation between orienting & resourcing with the beauty around you & the thoughts, fears & frustrations that arise - wow. i just love how organically you lead yourself in that & invite us along. Have you ever heard of using that same pendultion with the sensations of pressure in your head or tension in your body?
Thank you Kate! I have, in a Peter Levine course some years ago, but I had quite forgotten about it. (Not sure how I forgot, I took that when I had sciatica pain!) Thank you for reminding me!
Karen, I'm sending hugs and anxiety relief, and empathy about the migraine diagnosis. And those tracking ads--ugh. Sometimes I just want to retreat to a mesa with sagebrush and no internet! Thank you for finding and sharing beauty, for getting yourself outside where you can breathe and be. And then sharing the beauty you find. You're a blessing in this world.
Birdsong is the main reason I got hearing aids - it worked! My husband also appreciated me saying "what?" less... Also, that green heron in flight is phenomenal. My most favorite of yours ever!
I needed your words/reflections today. I slowed down enough to actually read each line. Look at each photo ~ you spoke to much of what I am and have been feeling.
Due to physical limitations I rarely get out in nature anymore. Family members are busy with their families & all my friends moved away. So I wait for a good body day with out fear of falling, which I realize may not come.
Not looking for sympathy ~ just want to express that your sharing are such a blessing to so many I suspect, that need to be touched by nature.
I am sorry that the M word is now a very personal part of your inner vocabulary. I do not have a word that starts with an M, mine have other capital letters. But what I love most about your post today, Karen, is that each of us with or without capital letters, a waiting diagnosis, a job change, a relationship change, a death, loneliness… If we look, we can find the places where;
“The water has receded, and I can step into my favorite cove ( enter your own place here) again.“

Wishing you rain!
Send some with one of those gorgeous Ruby-throated Hummingbirds!
I've asked my hummer if he's like to stop by Arizona - please send any one of your hummers my way!
We're up to 9 species now!

Thank you Sue! Nature does quell the madness.

Thank you Paolo!
Beautiful photos, Karen. The spiderweb is my favorite!
Thank you Rea
Another wonderful collection of your eye's vision of nature - even with a migraine (ouch). The green heron and spider's web were today's eye candy.
Thank you Sue

That is good to know about the hearing aids! :) Thank you Nancy!

Ps are you making a calendar for the coming year?
Thank you Jo. That sounds really hard, I'm glad what I do can help! I have never made a calendar, I'm not really planning to do so.
Thank you for this breath of fresh air, the moment to pause in beauty. Thank you for always taking the time to notice and to share.
Thank you Julie

Thank you Lor...I'm hoping to reduce it to a small m! Thank you for showing me the power of that statement!
