Happy Birthday week Karen, especially nice that you will have time to yourself to drift and create. I'm so taken with the heron and tern photo ~ just lovely.
Delightful photos. Happy Birthday Karen🌸🎂🎉 Wishing you lots of rest and wonderment for your time off. Whatever you decide for the membership…it’s a “bahhhgin” as we say in Boston.🤭 For me, it’s like having a mini vacation every day in my mailbox!
Thankyou for sharing. The image of the Heron (?) is beautiful calligraphy; you and the world and the Heron folk collaborating in a moment of zen grace. You also sparked a discussion at breakfast on colour, evolution and ecosystem.: Why are there multiple birds in Nth America with that singular pastel crimson? We have nothing like it here. Parrots sport vivid crimson on chests and head, but your Cardinals and tanagers have gone full feather with one paint tube. Astonishing. And love the Cardinal's hat. Or coif? And your message - well received, and even more so the calm flow that comes with them. Tai chi salute, and a high-feather five.
Thank you Peter! Yes, it's a heron with a tern flying beside it. I love that discussion! Where is the here you refer to? (Because I think if you have parrots you have lots of brightly colored birds?)
Hi! East coast of Australia, near Sydney. Lots of lorikeets and rosellas, bright red, bright blue, light blue greens and yellows; king parrots with their bright red heads and equally bright green bodies. I set up a bird bath outside our bedroom window near a wild tangle of trees and vines gone mad. It was a therapy thing. Both the bath and tangle have really added to our neighbourhood: a pair of whip birds taught me about bird love poetry; the satin bower clan (harem) were back yesterday after a big quiet, revealing an astonishing vocabulary of such unrelated sounds in their words and phrases that I had assumed they were different and mysterious birds. The current mystery is a tribe of mouse-sized wrens that we haven't been able to identify, but they have a willy wagtail who accompanies them everywhere. Noisy miners reckon it's their bath, but have grudgingly agreed that bower birds have a certain presence (and size). But when a pair of eastern rosellas arrives a couple of weeks ago, everyone backed off and gave them room. Plenty of room. You don't mess with those nut cracking beaks. Background chorus to all this: magpies (beautiful), yellow tailed black cockatoos (rain is coming), and crows. And lesson from this week, courtesy of bowers and whips: a brrrr sound is always secretly accompanied by an upward winging display, flamenco style.
Thankyou for sharing your experiences, especially the photos. Here's hoping for the sooner return of early sunrises. 🐦
Happy birthday 🎂🎉❤️. Hope you have a wonderful week❤️😍👍
So “what do I see?” … it seems I’m not seeing as well as I used to and will be having cataract surgery and hope I will be seeing more clearly … have an appointment mid June to start the process 😳
Ah, I understand! That surgery went so very well for my mom, dad and Debbie, I hope it will for you too! I know they all were so happy after. My dad had to have a little procedure done recently to clear some "film", but that was crazy super easy too. Sending you super good vibes, may it be such a relief! (I see it happening in my future too, hard to imagine avoiding it.)
Happy Birthday!!! And thank you again for both the mind-blowing photos and the words of peace, calm, and encouragement in a world that needs more of this. Xoxox
Happy birthday, Karen! And congrats on the Canada warbler lifer! Your sunrise landscape is to die for.
Happy Birthday!!! 💜

Happy birthday! So fascinating to think about how complicated “seeing” truly is.
Thank you! It really is. We "see" in so many ways.
