Yesterday, my daughter sent me a striking close up photo of a hummingbird making a buffet of her honeysuckles that she grew specifically for hummingbirds.
Yours is one of four publications here that I look forward to each week, because they soothe my soul. They take me to the good, peaceful world I wanted to live in and diminish the memories of the hard world I actually inhabited.
For example, when I saw your photos in today’s article, I started thinking about scarlet breasted rollers, hammerkops, and two secretary birds who somehow ended up in our front yard. I think of the fish eagles, the grey laury go-away birds and the delightful little hoopoes. I think of these beautiful creatures and it diminishes other less pleasant experiences.
Thank you so much. I need that peace and soothing, it's so nice to be able to share it with others. Thank you for sharing your list! I have to look all of these up to see what they look like!
Watching a hammerkop eat a frog is a not-to-be forgotten experience. The bird pounds the frog on a rock until it becomes a skin bag of green smoothie, then swallows it whole. I once heard it said that if you put a frog in a blender and drink it for breakfast, nothing worse will happen to you for the rest of the day. Maybe hammerkops are onto something.
Beautiful, as always...and a great quote!
Thank you Jack!

I bet that's true! Oh my gosh, your descriptions are just the best. And lol, yeah, I bet nothing worse!
Thank you for the love, blessing, and beauty amid the various storms of life. It makes the journey easier.
Thank you Lauren!
