Nice drumsticks on that heron. They remind me of the turkey drumsticks eaten by the cave people walking around at the county fair.

You get so many great side view pictures I’m starting to think you are somehow capable of flying yourself, assisted perhaps by a trebuchet you don’t want to tells us about. 😉

lol, just say no to the trebuchets!

Especially love the photos of the Great Blue. While I am very lucky to have the chance to view quite a few, it is rare to catch them in any form of swift movement, unless they’re flying.

Yes! Dragonfly and Damselflies season.

A sprinkling of Avian, with their wingspan that can rival a bird’s, and a dusting of fairy magic.

Enjoy your day!

BEAUTIFUL!!!! How big is a blue heron? This one looks like he is HUGE!!! And that mystery iris--how cool is that?! I absolutely love the things you show us that we would probably otherwise never get a glimpse of, Karen! :D

Thank you Roxy. Blue herons can make themselves so small sometimes, yet they can always make themselves so big! All about birds gives these measurements for them:

Length: 38.2-53.9 in (97-137 cm)

Weight: 74.1-88.2 oz (2100-2500 g)

Wingspan: 65.8-79.1 in (167-201 cm)

Their wingspan is more than my height, yet their weight is around 5 lbs! Unless they just downed a huge fish, that must add a little?

Wow, they're like almost all wings then! That wingspan is more than my height, too!! They almost look like something prehistoric 😄

I read that AND lo & behold, I heard snatches of ELOs " MR. BLUE " as I did.

" ...... please turn me over..... " at the end of the single.

Amazing what ONE memory can trigger......

So funny, I didn’t know the name, band or lyrics of that song but when I looked up I knew the tune! Now I’m singing it because we’ve had a lot of rainy days! Thanks for that!
