Wow… didn’t realize you had so much rain that it washed out the lake road 😳😢. We need some of that rain down here in Texas… at least we are getting a break from the triple digit heat today. Lovely pictures as always… love them❤️😍👍. Sorry you are so tired….hope the rest helps you recover 🙏🙏❤️. Sending luv and hugs💕
Thank you Sharon! It looks like rain is coming to you, hope it’s not too much all at once! It’s Raytown road that washed out, just north of Highgrove. And that was before this weeks rain!
Yikes….that’s crazy….you went from drought to flood 😳☹️. Yes, hope this rain coming doesn’t all run off… at least the temperatures are more reasonable… no more triple digits for a little while 👍❤️🤷♀️
Pretty sure there will be a face with the glint of a smile on the sun as it rises in your June 20th sunrise. Beautiful picture! And the purple marten seems to be flying over waves with wings! No wonder he feels at one with the water. Thank you, Karen, as always for sharing the world with us. You are so appreciated for doing this.
What's the difference between a swift and a swallow?? It's hard for me to tell when dozens of them are swirling around up in the evening air seventy feet above my head! Delightful photos and captions as always!
Good question! I've never thought about it. I'm sure a search could glean more information, but here's what I'd say: If it has any glint of color, it's s swallow. (Note that there are females swallows that are only brown and white.) They are shaped differently. The swifts have longer, skinny wings where swallows have more triangular shaped wings. Chimney swifts really do look like flying cigars and they seem to glide longer than swallows. Swifts will climb much higher in the sky than swallows do. Swifts also never land and perch - I think they only cling to things but I've never seen a swift that wasn't in the air. Keep in mind we only have one kind of swift here, the chimney swift! Now I want to search it and see what I find.

Glad you're taking the rest you need. 💜
Thank you Karen!
I hope you are safe and getting rest.
Thank you Sue!

Thank you, Sandy! I love this.
Lovely. I hope you are able to have a few smallish naps. (They’re all I can manage, these days. I’m no longer the napper I once was.)
Thank you, Rebecca. I’m not great at naps, so I did a bunch of meditations.
Awesome images Karen - I have never seen a baby Horned Lark - great captures!
Thank you Neil
I hear ya! I just took a long nap after getting home from my vacation. Needed the sleep. It's been a crazy and busy week. Xoxo ♥️
Wishing you rest!
Winnie the Pooh, so smart!
I wholeheartedly agree with Winnie.
Naps are a beautiful thing.
And so are your photos.
Hope you had a few, naps that is.
Winnie is very smart! I'm not a great napper but yesterday I did a lot of "meditating".

Ok, I wasn't too far off! :) https://www.audubon.org/news/is-swallow-or-swift
Thanks! That confirms my suspicions!

I so appreciate these images, every day. Thank you for giving of your time and energy to share them!
Thank you Jim!
