Yellow flower definitely an evening primrose, think of it as pretty common. Blue flower is great blue lobelia, never heard of it referred to before as blue cardinal flower, but found that it is.

I'm really enjoying your posts and your photos during my own challenging weeks. The birds, the skies, the water 💚

The yellow flowers are some kind of evening primrose, Oenothera sp. (I think.)

Oops - Just discovered this wonderful post of yours. The series of photos of the green heron is terrific! And yes I see that loving eye in the sky, too. May all of your pictures of sweet mother ducks comfort you this week.

I can sympathize, Karen. This is a horrid time of year for me, too, when so much traumatic happened in my life. My father died on August 22, my mother on September 9. Throw in intense heat and hurricane season, and you have a "perfect storm" for anxiety. None of it is intentionally conscious, but the sense memory of the body knows and gets the cortisol really pumping. I just try to lie low, stay out of noisy, tense environments, and distract myself with books, games, and pleasant viewing of all kinds -- including your photos. Wishing you relief from the "jitters," a non-traumatic prep period, and good outcome on your test. I'll be thinking of you daily 'til this is aa past.

Karen, your photos are always great but the heron photos and the hummingbird pictures are magnificent.

There is always hope. A few days this week, I was feeling overwhelmed, too, but today, it is all just a few wisps of smoke. It’s always just a few wisps of smoke soon enough, and remembering that is the essence of hope.

Thank you Switter! That is true, and I've reached the wispy side of mine now.

The green heron reminds me of Texas Roadrunners, except with a much longer neck. What a beautiful creature!

Roadrunners are such cool birds, i wish we had them here! Green herons are the clowns of the bird world, I love them so much.
