I decided until the end of the week to enjoy this. I’m glad I did. I’m now fully relaxed.
I did see the hidden acorn. I’m curious, do you pronounce it ay’ curn or ay’ corn? I have an audiobook version of Sand County Almanac, by Aldo Leopold that is narrated by Stewart Udall and he pronounces it ay’ curn. I don’t know if it’s a Midwest thing.
Also, can you dm me about the meadowlark photo? As you are well aware, they are my happy bird, and humanity’s sole purpose for existence is to build fences for meadowlarks to stand on and sing, and to build fireplaces and sofas for dogs to enjoy.
Here it's ay' corn, but it wouldn't surprise me at all if my more rural Missouri cousins pronounced it ay' curn. That side of my family also says 'mizz-ur-ah' instead of 'mizz-ur-ee' and they 'warsh' their clothes. Dialects vary!
I thought of you when I was taking the meadowlark photos! (And yes, there are a few more!) I will DM you! I love, "humanity’s sole purpose for existence is to build fences for meadowlarks to stand on and sing".
I enjoy dialects. My neighbor in Maryland changed the oal in his truck. Here, people worsh their clothes, especially in Worshington State, seen a Bigfoot, and sometimes have good ideals for a new invention.
And I’m so honored to be associated with meadowlarks.
Hope we all get rain soon…only 20% predicted for next week here🙄☹️💦☔️. The irises bloom in the fall here in a regular basis 🤷♀️😳❤️😍👍. Beautiful photos…have a wonderful weekend Karen🥰🥰🥰
Delightful images and comments, as always Karen. The word you featured at the top, Pisthurism, reminded me of similar older words offered up by Cian McCarthy in Cork, Ireland, on Twitter. I don’t acknowledge “X.” I don’t know if you Tweet? As I heard others offer in their comments, we too in north Florida are under fire hazard conditions. Tinder dry. I’m presently not seeing our usual migratory avian friends. So I enjoyed yours. All the very best to you!
It's amazing you are so dry while so many around you were recently flooded! :( I dropped off twitter after Musk took over, it just became such a cesspool.
We have a banner year for acorns, in New England, assume the birds know it. Also need rain. Love the fog pix, also the yellow iris, curious why it is blooming so late, newly planted this year?
1. "Rebloomers" (also called "remontants") are irises that produce two or more flushes of bloom each year. "Cycle rebloomers" produce a spring crop of flowers, lie low during summer, and grow and flower again in the fall.
2. Some types of irises bloom in Spring and Fall. They might just have reached maturity to have their first blooms now.
Catching a leaf falling! I'm upgrading my subscription!
Thank you so very much Michael!
Wishing you a lovely week-end Karen! Love the pics today. Especially the migrating birds in that pink sunrise and the cheerfulness of the yellow iris!
Thank you Sandy!

The fog shots are captivating! 😍
Thank you!

For sure. Maybe these are blooming because it's been so warm! Thanks Sharon, I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

I saw a weather forecaster I follow saying 75% of the US is in drought. The iris is curious - maybe the extra warm fall?
Did a search on iris that bloom in the fall:
1. "Rebloomers" (also called "remontants") are irises that produce two or more flushes of bloom each year. "Cycle rebloomers" produce a spring crop of flowers, lie low during summer, and grow and flower again in the fall.

Beautiful photos this morning, love the Meadow Lark in flight.
Ironically, my sister sent me the same word just yesterday,“Psithurism”
I told her, I thought it interesting that there is a word , but I would rather use the descriptive definition than the noun.
Made me think of Aristotle’s quote, but in reverse. The parts are greater than the whole.🤭
“The whole is greater than the sum of its parts”~Aristotle
Me too! I love standing below a tree and watching the leaves swirl , ‘hitching a ride’ on the wind.
Oh, I saw that online so it was probably circulating yesterday. I liked the description better too, which is why I included it! Thanks Lor!
