So very nice, Karen ! I myself would be in no hurry to become freeze dried. I love the chickadee, one wing raised. I think it may be training to be an orchestra conductor. No snow here in Tallahassee, though the number of Hooded Mergansers is growing. 11 or 12 this morning. Perhaps the Polar Blast is driving them to us? Be warm and well.
LOL, freeze dried. I do wonder if the cold air finally moving down will move some of the birds. I still haven't seen a single snow goose flyover. Glad your hoodeds are showing up! I usually get to see more when the ponds freeze, but I imagine the lake will also be frozen by the time I get over there so we will see.
Like life, some of our efforts require patience. Not my strongest suit. I’d love to see/hear Snow Geese flying over! “Covers is good”, I always say! Tonight will require another layer. Maybe you’ll dream of Snow Geese tonight?
Wise choice….stay warm and safe… it’s cold here too so we are dripping faucets 😳🙄🥶. Not as cold as you though…they are predicting snow later in the week here but each prediction is less accumulation so I’ll believe it when I see it🤞❄️🥶🤷♀️…so rare to have snow in Texas 🤦♀️. Lovely photos…you are so talented ❤️😍🥰👍
You are correct about the lack of insulation and they sure don’t know how to drive in it🤦♀️🥶❄️…We couldn’t even buy a snow shovel here, Leslie had to order it from Amazon 😳🙄🤷♀️🥶❄️. Looks like heaviest snow to be just east of us… so we will see what we get on Thursday….of course the girls are hoping for snow days off from school.😂😂❄️🥶🌨️⛄️
Karen we have started the day with a milky white sky much like the one in your first picture. It became quite bright with a defused pink glow before going back to a pervasive pale grey. It is a change from the heavy dark skies we have been having with very rainy days. It has been odd to be living in the mid-40's day and night ... for weeks at this time of the year? I do wonder if we are going to get caught unawares with cold and snow just as the daffodils are pushing up their first signs of life with green shoots. Wishing you snug and counting your blessings of the things going right in your life. My mother taught me this as a way to balance the scales. :-)
I love that pink glow! Yeah, we had been warmer than normal which was odd, but now we are below normal for a long stretch. I love the blessing counting for sure. Thank you Sandy!
So much goodness!!! <3 I'm thankful for all the beauty you show us, Karen, and also for all the birdy "personalities!" You capture their faces in so many different expressions--what are they thinking when they see you? What are they thinking at other times?! We would never get these treasure moments if not for you!! Thank you from my heart, always.
Karen, your photos are stunning. Winter reminds us that it's time to rest and to find some solitude in the quiet beauty all around us.
Thank you Kathleen
I am watching The Weather Channel and Jim Cantore was in your town for a few days. Stay in and rest.
It's probably never good when they are in your town, lol. Thank you Linda!

I imagine the homes there don't have as much insulation! I hope it doesn't snow because no one down there can drive in it. Love you Sharon!

That Jan 3 sky is so beautiful, so cold. Hope we see something of the snow!
Thank you Nancy, hope you get a nice snow!

That first photo of the pink and blue sunrise!! Absolutely stunning!
Thank you Alexa!
A little hibernation is a good thing when the temps drop below normal- rest well.
Thank you Oriah!

Thank you Roxy - I wonder this too, what are they thinking?!?
Enjoy the rest amid this cold. And I imagine that there’s beauty galore in the photos you didn’t yet publish.
Thank you!
