I love this newsletter <3 and I love hearing little paws come running when I get home, I love new blooms on old plants, I love putting just the tiniest bit of cinnamon in my coffee, I love finding new music, I love watching old movies, I love the moment you start to feel better after feeling ill, I love speculating about first snow, I love turmeric and curry and cumin and garlic, I love watching dogs dream, I love the first chill in the air and the first sweater you pair with it.

Hoping you feel better soon.

And ack - it auto corrected Kelton! So sorry I didn’t see it!

it's a vast improvement from the years autocorrect insisted on calling me Melton.

This makes me think, Karen of all I love about life. I do love the glorious beauty around me, the love & care of friends & family, & being with & supporting long-time friends as they go through the ups & downs of life. I do love being able to be in & worship at my church, COR, & being with my dear Blue Ridge friends.

I know the feeling. I'll take an extra deep breath tonight for you, as the rain continues to fall. Keep up the great work healing, such a huge task we ask of our bodies. 💟

Beautiful post, both words and photos. I love the "Earthly smell released by the first rain after a dry spell," known as Petrichor, especially last night to help calm our wildfire. I'm giving away my Wednesday hump day gratitude for this week, but that's okay. These raindrops deserve a huge shout out! 💟

Thank you Sue. Mmmmm, I long for that smell. We are so dry, it has not rained in weeks. It tried today and it couldn't even get the ground wet.

Rain in California this early is not typical! We are beyond grateful! Mother Nature is tough, relentless, heartbreaking, and I wouldn't give up a minute of experiencing her wrath, as it partners with the beauty of life. Keep taking those amazing photos!

Oh yes and you’ve been dealing with fires! So happy you got some rain. Has the fire threat diminished?

Expand full comment

Yes, our evacuation warning was finally dropped yesterday. And it rained again all night. Great way to begin this week.

Kai, thank you so much! I was just thinking how it was your course that kind of opened things up for me and I started writing weekly then. Almost a year now!

Karen, I'm happy to know that course helped open things up for you and supported your writing. Happy almost-anniversary!

I love the quiet that finds me just as the sky reflects the first hint of dawn. The stars fade, the darkness brightens almost imperceptibly and in that moment it is as if the world releases a long, slow exhale and then pauses, letting go into a moment of deep stillness before the next shared inhale.

Mmmm, yes, I can feel that moment. I also love your beautiful writing dear Oriah, you paint the most beautiful picture with your words.
